A birthday on a yacht in Tenerife is one of the most requested occasions in AMAR's calendar. No restaurant, rooftop, or villa terrace competes with the Atlantic Ocean as a setting. The island disappears behind you, the water opens in every direction, and for 3 to 8 hours, the only agenda is the one your group creates.
At AMAR Yacht, we've produced birthday charters for intimate groups of 2 and massive parties of 150. We match the vessel to the scale. From a small, private motorboat for close friends to large, spacious catamarans that can host up to 160 guests.
This page covers exactly what a birthday charter involves, which vessel fits your group size, what the crew handles, and what it costs.
Why the Ocean Works Better Than Any Venue
A restaurant seats your group next to strangers. A villa has neighbours. A beach bar has other people's music. A yacht at sea has none of that.
Total privacy without isolation. You're surrounded by ocean, not walls. Every guest has space. There's no adjacent table, no waiting for a reservation, no noise from a kitchen. But you're not in the middle of nowhere — the coastline of South Tenerife is visible, dolphins may swim alongside, and the crew is present but unobtrusive. Private doesn't mean remote. It means undisturbed.
The setting changes throughout the day. A restaurant looks the same at 2 PM and 6 PM. On the water, the light shifts hour by hour. The morning is bright, clean, energising — ideal for swimming and activity. Late afternoon softens. And if your charter extends to sunset, the final hour delivers something no venue on land can book: the sun dropping into the Atlantic horizon with your group holding the only front-row seats.
Zero logistics for guests. No one drives. No one navigates. No one manages the space. The crew handles everything operational — route, anchoring, food timing, music, drink service — so the person who organised the birthday can actually enjoy it instead of running it.
It scales to any size. Two people on a motor yacht at sunset. Twelve friends on the Tigresa with champagne and cake. Fifty colleagues on the Five Star Boat with a catered lunch. A hundred and fifty guests on the FB1 with a DJ, a full bar, and a dance floor on the Atlantic. The ocean accommodates them all.
Planning a Birthday Charter — What You Decide, What the Crew Handles Your Decisions (Before the Day)
Group size. This determines the vessel, and AMAR covers every scale.
- 2–5 guests → Atlanca.
- Up to 12 guests → Tigresa.
- 20–40 guests → Monte Christo & Maxi Cat.
- 40–87 guests → White Tenerife.
- Up to 160 guests → FB1.
Each vessel creates a different atmosphere — intimate and focused, or spectacular and social.
Duration. A 3-hour charter covers a coastal cruise with a swimming stop. A 4-to-5-hour charter allows for a more relaxed pace and more swimming locations.
Food and drinks. Basic snacks and drinks are included on our charters. For our ultra-premium vessel (Tigresa), premium catering and top-shelf alcohol are included.
Decorations and extras. We can arrange a birthday cake delivered to the boat, fresh flowers, and professional photographers or videographers to capture the day.
What the Crew Handles (On the Day)
The captain manages the route, adjusting for sea conditions, wind, and the best swimming spots. The crew handles anchoring, drink service, food timing, and any onboard logistics. If decorations were arranged, they're set up before you arrive. Music runs through the sound system — your playlist, your volume.
The crew's goal is to be present when needed and invisible when not. A birthday charter is not a guided tour. No commentary, no forced activities, no schedule announcements. The ocean and the group set the rhythm.
Which Vessel for Which Birthday Atlanca — The Simple Ocean Birthday (Up to 5 Guests)
For the friend who says, "Don't spend too much, just get me on the water." The Atlanca is a compact, self-drive bareboat (or with a basic skipper) that puts a small group on the Atlantic. Starting from €269 for 3 hours.
Libby's Waterfront — The Intimate Celebration (Up to 7 Guests)
A couple and their closest friends. Fast, responsive, and private. A focused 3-hour charter with a swimming stop, drinks, and the ocean to yourselves. Starting from €440 for 3 hours.
Blue Jack — The Birthday Under Sail
A monohull sailing yacht birthday is a different experience entirely. The sound of water against the hull, the lean of the deck under the wind. For someone who values atmosphere over speed.
Tigresa — The Group Celebration (Up to 12 Guests)
For milestone birthdays that demand the highest level of service. The Tigresa includes premium drinks, elite service, and absolute exclusivity. €2,000 for 3 hours, or €2,500 for a 4-hour VIP experience.
Oh la la — The Premium Celebration (Up to 12 Guests)
The most popular birthday vessel for medium-sized groups. Ample deck space for a group to spread out. Starting from €820 for 3 hours, or €1,260 for a full day on the water.
Monte Cristo & Maxi Cat (20 to 40 Guests) When the guest list exceeds what a standard yacht can handle, these spacious catamarans bridge the gap. Comfortable capacity with dedicated deck space, perfect for mid-sized birthday parties.
White Tenerife (Up to 87 Guests)
For birthdays that are social spectacles. This large catamaran provides the stability and space for a massive floating celebration.
FB1 — The Ultimate Birthday Party (Up to 160 Guests)
The largest vessel in AMAR's network. The FB1 accommodates up to 160 guests — a full-scale floating event venue with dance floor space, professional sound system, multiple bars, full catering operation, and the kind of scale that turns a birthday into the event of the year. For the client who wants no limits on the guest list and no compromise on the experience.
How a Birthday Charter Unfolds — Hour by Hour A typical 5-hour birthday charter on the Tigresa (the most common mid-size format):
Hour 1 — Boarding and departure. Guests arrive at Marina. The captain departs and heads south along the coastline. Drinks flow. The group settles in.
Hour 2 — Open water and first stop. The captain finds a calm spot for swimming. Snorkelling gear is available. The crew manages drinks and begins laying out food if catering was arranged.
Hour 3 — Lunch and cruise. The boat moves slowly along the coast or anchors at a second spot. Food is served. The pace slows deliberately — this is the heart of the celebration. Pilot whales or dolphins may pass through — the crew knows the most likely sighting areas.
Hour 4 — Second swim, cake, or activity. If a cake is arranged, this is usually the moment. Another swimming stop. Some groups play music louder. Some get quieter. The crew reads the energy and adjusts.
Hour 5 — Return to the marina. The boat heads back toward the marina. If the timing aligns with late afternoon, the light changes — warmer, golden, softer. The return trip is often when the best photos happen.

When a Yacht Birthday Is the Right Call — and When It Isn't
Book a birthday yacht charter when: The birthday person values experience over things. The group is 2 to 160 people and enjoys being on or near water. You want an occasion that people talk about for years — not just another dinner. You're willing to invest in the setting because the setting is the gift.
Consider something else when: The birthday person gets seriously seasick and hasn't tested themselves on the water. The group is primarily children under 6 without adults supervising each child; young children fatigue on longer charters. A shorter 3-hour charter on Libby's Waterfront or the Atlanca is a better fit for families with small kids.
A yacht birthday does not work as: A cheap alternative to a restaurant dinner. Even the Atlanca is a private charter, not a €30-per-head group tour. If the budget can't support a private vessel, a restaurant with an ocean view is a better option than a compromised boat experience.

Frequently Asked Questions About Birthday Yacht Charters in Tenerife How far in advance should I book a birthday charter? Optimally, 2 to 4 weeks in advance to ensure you get the exact vessel and date you want. If you need a highly specific date (or if you are planning a larger event like a wedding), we highly recommend booking several months to half a year in advance.
What is the maximum number of guests AMAR can accommodate?
Up to 160 guests on the FB1. AMAR's fleet covers every scale: 2–5 guests on the Atlanca, up to 12 on the Tigresa, up to 40 on Monte Cristo / Maxi Cat, up to 87 on the White Tenerife, and up to 160 on the FB1.
Can you organise a surprise birthday?
Yes. The crew will coordinate with whoever is managing the arrival so the guest of honour boards smoothly and the surprise goes perfectly.
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
Yes on standard charters. Bring everything yourself, arrange catering through AMAR, or combine both. No corkage fees. For mega-yacht events, catering is typically coordinated as part of the event package.
Can I have a DJ on the yacht?
No. But we provide high-quality Bluetooth sound systems so you can play your own curated playlists. (Note: If a live DJ is a strict requirement for your party, ask us about our Ibiza yacht charters, where DJs are permitted).
What if the weather is bad on the birthday?
The captain assesses conditions on the morning of the charter. If the sea state is unsuitable, we will reschedule at no cost. If rescheduling is impossible, you will receive a 100% refund.
Is there a bathroom on board?
All AMAR vessels have onboard toilet facilities. Standard yachts have enclosed heads. Mega-yachts have multiple bathroom facilities appropriate to their passenger capacity.
